Visitors still flock in their thousands to see the blend of Byzantine, Gothic and Renaissance architecture for which Venice is renowned. Plenty of old captivating buildings are located by the canales, attracting tons of tourists to visit Venice in every single day. A lot of the tourists seem to be enjoying having a great lunch by the old buildings and watching the pigeons roost nearby. The great thing about Venice is that it can be very affordable; stay in a hotel and have meals fresh from the markets. Then wander the streets and get lost. Unsurprisingly, a huge number of the old buildings in Venice are hotels.
