Yokohama Museum of Art is another Japanese museum that displays various arts and art collections from locals and foreign artists. The museum is located in Yokohama, one important city of
Japan. Yokohama Museum of Art took eight year to complete everything. The plan began from 1987 and the museum all finished in 1989. Yokohama Museum of Art began from the recommendation submitted by the City of Yokohama Cultural Issues Group until the plan was approved to construct and as the public can see the museum was all done at last after all.
Yokohama Museum of Art’s main collection is to display an art collections from late nineteenth century by Japanese and foreign artists. Japanese style arts done by famous artists such as Shimomura Kanzan, and Imamura Shiko. Modern style painting is mainly done by Dadaist and Surrealists: Ernst, Dali, Magritte, etc, and Brancusi, Zadkin, Noguchi are for Modern Sculpture. Moreover, the museum as well displays prints and photographs.
The performances and arts from the museum are shown in three thematic exhibitions every year that each year presents a new selection. Yokohama Museum of Art has three floors. Each floor offers different stuff. The first floor is parking, and lecture hall arranged for visitors. The second floor offers six different zones which are Grand Gallery, Art Information Gallery, Art Gallery, as well Children’s Workshop, Museum Shop, and Restaurant. The third floor displays Gallery (1-6), Photography Gallery, also Citizens’ Workshop, and Art Achieve Center. The parking is available for about 168 cars with charged anyways.
Yokohama Museum of Art’s admission fee for adults is 500 (400) yen, High School or College Students is 300 (240) yen, Middle School Students is 100 (80) yen, Elementary School Students is free. The museum is available from 10.00 to 18.00. Those facilities within the museum serve different operation hours though. Best ways to reach the Museum are by car; visitors can take several ways to the museum, by bus; take bus number 51 or 145 from Sakuragicho to Yokohama Bijutsukan, by train; using Sakuragicho station, JR Yokohama subway line or Mimatomirai station, Minatomirai Line.
