I’ve seen the Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras Parade. Posted by Miss.Chonnikan Juntura on 25 July 2006 Thai Nationality |
On March of this year, I had a chance to go to Sydney, Australia and stayed at the Crest Hotel in the Kings Cross Street for week. The Kings Cross Street is the gay community’s habitat in Sydney. There are beautiful attractive places in Kings Cross Street such as Art space, Elizabeth Bay House, Garden Island, The Ginseng Bathhouse and Sydney Jewish Museum. Elizabeth House is a Greek revival style building which is magnificent, and there are great views looking from the top of the building. Sydney Jewish Museum displays the history of Jews within Australia and it has some good exhibitions. Many wonderful restaurants, pubs and café are also in this area. On my vacation, I was so lucky because I’ve seen the Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras Parade on March 4. The Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras is an annual gay pride parade and festival for the gay and lesbian community in Sydney, Australia. It is one of the largest such events in the world. The Mardi Gras currently is a four week long festival in February / March each year and features many cultural, arts, activist and social events, including the Fair Day, and the Parade and Party. There were 6,500 people boogied, rocked and rolled the hallowed 1.6 km parade route for the Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras Parade. People dressed many different styles could be founded in this festival such as Cowboy and Fancy dresses. It was very amazing I have seen from this parade. Many partner both gays and lesbians participated and enjoyed this festival including people who are not. Their wonderful clothes were very colorful and vivid which kept the visitors interesting from the beginning to the end of the festival.
