The
Monorail is Sydney's modern public transportation system. It runs 364 days per year and is only closed on Christmas Day. Operating hours are from 7 in the morning until 10 at night from Monday to Thursday and from 7 in the morning until 12 at night on Friday and Saturday. On Sundays, the
Monorail runs from 8 in the morning until 10 at night.
How much is a ticket for the Monrail? Waiting times between trains are very short and range from 3 to 5 minutes.
There are several pricing schemes available for the Monorail. The standard fare for adults and children is 4.50 (about 3.50 USD). Children who are 5 years old or younger, travel for free if accompanied with their family or guardian.
There is also a special fare for pensioners, war widows and seniors which is 3.00 Australian dollars (about 2.30 USD)
If you are planning on using the Monorail for several times than a day pass could be interesting for you. For a fee of 9 $AUS for adults or 22.00 $AUS for families (4 people), you can use the monorail for one whole day and as many times as you want.

Light Rail (see below) combination tickets available. Just enquire at the ticket counter to see what is the best option for you.
Where does the Monrail go to? The Monorail runs on a circular rail, passing the following stations:
Darling Park, City Centre, Galeries Victoria, World Square, Chinatown, Paddy's Markets, Convention Centre, Harbourside and then Darling Park again.
How much is a ticket for the Light Rail? There is also the
Lightrail which runs on 365 days per year and 24 hours a day. The light rail uses a zone system. Depending on how many zones you travel through, the price will increase accordingly. If you travel within one zone, the price will be 3 $AUS (about 2.30 $US). If you travel through 2 zones, then the price will be 4 $AUS (about 3.10 $US). Return tickets are 1.50 $AUS more, so 4.50 $AUS and 5.50 $AUS respectively.
Where does the Light Rail go to? The Light Rail passes through the following statons:
Lilyfield, Rozelle Bay, Jubilee Park, Glebe, Wentworth Park, Fish Market, John Street Square, Star City, Pyrmont Bay, Convention Centre, Exhibition Centre, Paddy's Markets, Capitol Square and Central Station.
After reaching central station, the Light Rail will go back the same way it came, passing the same stations.
The Light Rail runs every 10 to 15 minutes. Waiting times will not be longer. After midnight though you have to wait about 30 minutes.
