Posted by Mr. Umbert Fischer on 30 September 2006
German Nationality

Velvet Underground is a nightclub that you will not forget so quickly. Together with the famous Zouk Club (which is located at the same place), Velvet Underground is Singapore's hippest nightclub at the moment. Think the 60's, think big loungy sofas mixed with modern beats and chill out sounds. Entering the Velvet Underground already is an experience. The walls are lined with original psychedelic 1960's posters from the Avalon ballroom collection in San Francisco. Once inside you will see how exclusive Velvet Underground is. On any give night you will surely bump into local celebrities, models and wanna be starlets. But of course also everybody else is welcome to party the night away. Overall, Velvet Underground has 2 different bars that serve a huge selection of spirits, long drinks, beers, champagnes, cocktails and shots. You name it. Velvet Underground only lets the best DJs behind the decks and the music style is generally house in all its styles that it has including garage house and progressive house. But there are also other nights and special events where you will hear other music styles such as Drum n Bass or even Mambo. The main room of the Velvet Underground is where most people will gather and the dance floor is always crowded in this club. A big chandelier is hanging above the dance floor and a huge Keith Haring picture is adoring the side wall. ext to the dance floor one can enter the chill-out bar and lounge where ambient beats and good, strong drinks let you relax and calm down while lounging on the comfy couches. The chill-out lounge is decorated with the best of contemporary art with art pieces for example from Andy Warhol . The admission charge for men is 35 Singapore Dollars and 25 Singapore Dollars for women. This also buys you automatically admission to Zouk and Phuture Club, too. Velvet Underground can be found on: 17 Jiak Kim Street Singapore 169 420 Phone: 673 82 988 Opening Hours: Tuesday - Saturday: 21:00-03:00 Sunday and Monday Velvet Underground is closed Happy Hours: Wed, Fri, Sat from 23:00-24:00 Dress Code: "Smart Casual" for men and "Dressy" for the ladies
