Underwater World and Dolphin Lagoon: Your Underwater Experience Posted by Miss.Pa-paavarin Thanakankun on 27 September 2006 Thai Nationality |
Underwater World Singapore is one of Asia's most popular oceanariums. There are more than 2500 marine animals from 250 species from different regions of the world. From the sandy beaches and shallow rock pools, visitors begin their descent into the deep, passing brightly hued corals and vibrant plant life before reaching a spectacular 83-metre long acrylic tunnel, home to great shoals of fish, prowling predators and other exotic ocean dwellers. Many marine species, such as the black tip and white tip sharks, eagle rays and big-belly seahorses, breed and thrive in the Underwater World. The Underwater World plays an integral role in conservation efforts such as rescuing the endangered turtle species and spearheading a coral relocation project in the Southern Islands. The Underwater World’s ticket always includes admission to the Dolphin Lagoon. At the "Meet the Dolphins" session at Dolphin Lagoon, visitors are able to watch the adorable pink dolphins perform their natural behaviors such as spy hop, tail -flapping, vocalizations, etc. If you’re lucky, you may also be allowed to wade into shallow waters, under the guidance of staff, to touch and feed these wonderful and highly intelligent animals. Dolphin Lagoon's latest program - Swim with the Dolphins, will allow you to work closely with a trainer and experience great human-dolphin interaction and play. Participants will learn to build a relationship with the pink dolphins during the interaction and gain a greater appreciation about them. Participants should be aged 6 years and above. Advance bookings are highly encouraged to avoid disappointment. The Underwater World open daily at 9.00 am. – 9.00 pm.
