The Sentosa Orchid Gardens, opened on 20 October 1995 by Minister Mentor Lee Kuan Yew, is located on the highest hill in the Singapore Botanic Gardens. In the garden has 60,000 orchid plants comprising of 400 species and more than 2,000 hybrids.
The National Orchid Garden offers the largest display of orchids in the world. A walk through the terraced garden transports you from the freshness of springtime to the cool tones of winter as colorful orchids intermingle with tropical plants. Don't miss the Orchid Cool House - a glass conservatory display of orchids and plants from the tropical highlands. Enjoy the Celebrity Displays that boast of hybrids named after state dignitaries and famous personalities.
And the another attractions within the National Orchid Garden are the special Orchid Garden showcasing outstanding orchids from the Botanic Gardens named after State Visitors and special from within and outside Singapore; the Tan Hoon Siang Misthouse featuring orchids display against a backdrop of cultural decor and the Yuen-Peng McNeice Bromeliad collection with its display of over 20,000 plants representing over 800 types in the Pineapple family and the new soon-to-be-opened Orchid Cool House featuring plants from the cooler tropical highlands. This new feature will extend the range of orchid species that can be displayed in the National Orchid Garden.
The normal price for adult is S$5, Student or Senior Citizen above 60 years is S$1; Free for children under 12 years. The National Orchid Garden open daily at 8.30 a.m. to 7.00 p.m. You can get there by SIA Hop-on Bus.
