Geylang is one of districts in east and is a neighbourhood in the city which has been the centre of Singapore’s ethic Malay community in east of Singapore. This means Geylang is the biggest district for Moslem.

Geylang is best known as a hub of shoppers who are fond buying of cheap stuff as there are a bunch of shops a long the street and that has become a common thing to see in Geylang especially flower shops. The traditional Malay would have many flower decorations and so it is in Ramadhan that the Malays usually shop for the new to replace the ones that have lasted the previous year.

Geylang is synonymous with glorious food and the red light district. The lorongs (streets" in Malay) in Geylang are numbered 1 to 42 eastward, with the red light district in the teens and great food places found all over. Most of the restaurants in Geylang are open from 3.00 p.m. to 2.00 a.m yet, there are plenty of restaurant that open in the morning till noon. During Muslem fasting month, Geylang is abstinence from food and drink during the day and that makes Geylang turns a little different from the area it usually is. Still, some of stalls serve you food.

There are many activities you can enjoy around the area for instance clubs or bar that would make you know more interesting people, sight seeing around to see the way people live or the way things move. If shopping is how you pass the time, Geyland is simply a paradise for you.
