The Centre of Asian Cultures Collection in Singapore

Asian Civilization Museum or it can also be called ACM, it is the place which is the center of Asian Culture stuff. The Asian Civilization Museum has two locations. One is at Empress Place which is closed for renovation until 2008. One is the major on Armenian Street in Singapore which is by the Singapore River. Here in this place of Asian Civilization Museum is contained with three forms of three museums of the National Museum of Singapore which those display stuff with very Asian cultures. The Asian cultures to be found information about here are China, Southeast Asia, South Asia, and West Asian cultures including histories of Singapore’s forefather.

Asian Civilization Museum on Armenian Street is a Peranakan Museum and this is the feature and main one which impresses most of visitors to explore. It shows the descendants of Chinese who inter-married the Malays. Babas are called for males and Nyonyas are call for females. Asian Civilization Museum is the real museum of the Asian collections.

Asian Civilization Museum’s area is around 14,000 square meters with 11 galleries and there are over 1300 artifacts showcases in the collections. The Museum provides place houses a café and a restaurant, a museum shop, auditorium, and a function room with a stunning view of the Singapore River.

Asian Civilization Museum is opened six days a week, closed on Monday. Opening hours on Tuesday to Sunday is 9 am to 6 mm and until 9 pm on Friday, the end of the weekday. There are guided tours arranged in the museum two times a day or visitors can just walk through the Museum with a map provided with tickets. Public transportation can reach the Museum such as several buses which is mostly taken. Visitors can actually take for minutes from the City Hall to the Museum. Asian Civilization Museum Fee is SGD 1.50 for students and senior citizens. If you are tourists, you are probably charged with different prices.
