Shanghai Museum is a large museum collecting ancient Chinese art. It is located in People’s Square which is in the center of Shanghai. It is on West Nanjing Road, Shanghai of China. Around the museum is mainly surrounding by artifacts demonstrating ancient wisdom and philosophy with more than 120,000 pieces of cultural in twelve categories. Shanghai Museum was established in 1952, December. Shanghai Museum is divided into 10 galleries which those are Gallery of Ancient Chinese Bronze, Gallery of Ancient Chinese Sculpture, Gallery of Ancient Chinese Ceramics, Gallery of Chinese Jades, Gallery of Ancient Chinese Paintings, Gallery of Ancient of Chinese Calligraphy, Gallery of Ancient of Chinese Seals, Gallery of Ancient Chinese Numismatics, Gallery of Chinese Furniture in Ming and Qing dynasties, and Gallery of Arts and Crafts by Chinese Minorities. There are included a special gallery of donated relics and three temporary exhibition halls in the museum. Shanghai Museum has very trustable security. The museum provides wise multi-media guide if visitors wish to have a leader to tell some interesting information about the place with high technology facilities are all ready such as definition graphics system, an audio tour, the lecture room equipments. There is also information center arranged in the museum for visitors who are willing to take a tour around by themselves. There are about 200,000 volumes of books in the collection in the museum’s library. Scientific laboratory is there for research departments of Chinese bronze, ceramics, paintings, calligraphy, artifacts for cultural relics anyway. Shanghai Museums is available during 9.00 – 17.00 with admission fee is CNY 60. Visitors should take around one and a half hours to explore around the area of all those galleries and those pieces. Public Transportation can be taken to the museum.
