Phuket’s weather is influenced by two main seasons. The wet season, from May to November, and the dry season from December to April. The wet season is dominated by moisture laden monsoon winds blowing from the south west off the Andaman sea.
The wettest months are August and September. In the dry season season the winds blow from the northeast off the hot SE Asian mainland.

There are officially 231,206 permanent residents on phuket island. The main town, Phuket town, has about 60,000 people. Phuket attracts a lot of migrant semi permanent workers form other provinces in Thailand and additionally at any one time has up to 35,000 tourists. The tallest peak in Phuket is Mai Tao Sip Song (twelve cane peak in English). it stands at 529 meters and is part of the series of mountains and valleys running mainly from north - South and covering approximately 70 percent of the island. The other 30 percent is mainly flat plain and is located in the center and eastern side of phuket.
