Phuket’s weather is influenced by two main seasons. The wet season, from May to November, and the dry season from December to April. The wet season is dominated by moisture laden monsoon winds blowing from the south west off the Andaman sea. The wettest months are August and September. In the dry season season the winds blow from the northeast off the hot SE Asian mainland. There are officially 231,206 permanent residents on phuket island. The main town, Phuket town, has about 60,000 people. Phuket attracts a lot of migrant semi permanent workers form other provinces in Thailand and additionally at any one time has up to 35,000 tourists. In reality the total number of people living here will be a lot higher than the census and will fluctuate with the seasons.. More
