Hated by some, loved by many, New York City is quite a treat for the senses. Posted by Mr.Ioan Voicu on 12 August 2006 Romanian Nationality |
One wouldn’t know where to start in describing New York City…one of the world’s great metropolises, it truly has something for everyone. Historically, many settlers of different nationalities have come to New York and now, not only can you find people of every nation under the sun, but also at least one ethnic restaurant that can cater to your particular taste, be it for Italian, Greek, Tibetan or Venezuelan food. It’s this cultural melting pot that makes New York special. The people here have also created one of the world’s most fascinating art scenes – who wouldn’t want to go to a Carnegie Hall concert, see a Broadway play or visit an art gallery in the Village? New York is also one of the shopping & fashion capitals of the world, featuring everything from designer outlets on swanky 5th Avenue, to discount stores that sell anything you could imagine. Canal Street in Chinatown is probably the only place outside the country itself where you can find just about any Chinese products. Finally, there are New York landmarks, like the Statue of Liberty or Rockefeller Center, the Empire State Building or Central Park, places where you can spend an enthralling time. I guess there’s a reason why the city’s tourism catchphrase is “I love NY”.
