| Mexico City isn’t really a city it is more of a small country with a population in Greater Mexico City of 19.2 million, the second largest in the World.
It was originally founded by the Aztecs on a small island in the center of Lake Texcoco and was captured by the Spain in 1521 after an 80 day siege that laid waste to most of the old city, it was rebuilt in 1524.
