Rizal Park was called Bagumbayan in Spanish times which in English means New Town. It was later known as Luneta. Rizal Park is the official name since 1917. It was a tribute to the Philippines national hero, Dr. Jose Rizal. Rizal Park is in the capital city of Philippines, Manila. Rizal Park now has become a famous place for locals and tourists. It is a local spot for families for picnics on day off and it is a tourist attraction for tourists in the heart of Manila. Rizal Park is an oasis for relaxation and fun at the same time. The place includes a lot of stuff. There are Chinese and Japanese Gardens, Orchidarium and Butterfly Pavilion, Twin buildings of Department of Tourism and Department of Finance built with Greek architecture, National Museum of the Filipinos, The National Library, The monument of the Philippines's first hero, Lapu-Lapu, A fountain Area, A children's lagoon, A chess Plaza, A Light and Sound presentation, and the Quirino Grandstand even a tour of the park on hours-drawn for the sea view. Rizal Park is separated into three sections which are 16-hectare Agrifina Circle adjoining Taft Avenue; here is where the Department of Tourism and the National Museum of the Filipino people are around, 22-hectare Park proper, and 10-hectare. Rizal Park hosts a variety of performances. The tableau is an open-air theatre presentation. It presents during Wednesday to Sunday evenings from 7.00 pm to 7.30 pm in Tagalog version and from 8.00 pm to 8.30 pm in English version. Admission fee is P50 for general public. 50 percent discount for students. All members are free of charge. Rizal Park provides tour guides on Wednesday – Sunday between 9.00 am – 5.00 pm with P10 fee for general public as well as 50 percent discount for students. There are loads of other great performances such as ballet at the park visitors can enjoy in a time. This is mostly held at the end of a year of November 13, "Ballet Filipino", and December 14, "Excerpts from the Nutcracker". A lot of national dedication days are held by this place though.
