Nathan Road, The Shopping Street at Kowloon, Hong Kong Posted by Miss.Kesinee Sriyom on 28 September 2006 Thai Nationality |
Nathan Road is the main street in Kowloon, Hong Kong. It is the road with shops and restaurants, the one of tourists attraction in Hong Kong. Nathan Road is a famous street for local person and tourists such as China and Thailand; they come for shopping and entertainment. You can walk along Nathan Road will reveal a shopping paradise with many boutiques, camera shops, street markets and restaurants crammed side-by-side. Nathan Road bisects Kowloon Peninsula from North to South in an almost straight line; start at a little below Boundary Street in Mongkok and leading down the way to Tsim Sha Tsui's waterfront. Kowloon's main street has to absorb an abnormal amount of traffic every single day. It is one of Hong Kong's most important shopping streets. To walk the distance of three kilometers is like looking through a kaleidoscope of ever changing patterns and colors, start with an area of cheaper shops in the North and going through sections with jeweler after that suddenly finding trees in this most unlikely of places, and the end in a bazaar like quarter with tailors vying for your attention and electronic stores selling equipment at horrendous prices. Nathan Road, Hong Kongcan easily be walked in installments. Most of Kowloon's attractions are located in this street immediate vicinity so that the weary tourist can sneak into back alleys and enjoy a quieter and less peopled time there. One can drop out anytime by catching a bus to the next intended destination. However, it may be difficult to find the appropriate stop, because there are many lines and each stop serves only a handful.
