Up To The Mountain, Chiang Mai.

Chiang Mai is one of provinces in Thailand situated in north which is a popular destination for travelers, even the most popular place to go in the north. Chiang Mai is a lively city that rich of cultures and there are a million of things to do there.

The travelers tend to enjoy activities in forests since most part of Chiang Mai is covered by mountains. The varied local terrain also offers opportunities for mountain biking, elephant riding, bamboo rafting and kayaking. The area also has several golf courses. The nearby national park that includes Doi Inthanon, the highest mountain in Thailand, features many hiking trails.

Trekking is also a popular outdoor activity the tourists enjoy. A centre for treks is in northern areas especially home of hill tribes. Lush hills and virgin forests are scenic backdrops that will make your trekking by foot or on elephant back truly memorable. The trip would be more fun to see a demonstration of trained elephants at work logging. It is cute seeing the elephants having a football match too.

Wat Phratat Doi Suthep is a must to visit if you are in Chiang Mai. Locals say you haven’t really been to Chiang Mai unless you visit it. Doi Suthep is a mountaintop temple with a beautiful pagoda. The temple is 15 kilometers from town and is 3,520 feet above sea level. It is the perfect place to get a bird’s eye view of the city. The temple can be reached via a steep Naga staircase comprised of 290 steps or railcars or a cable car provided by the temple.

Accommodations or hotels in Chiang Mai are quite easily to find and a lot of them are cheap. Chiang Mai Orchid Chiang Mai hotel is a worth recommend place to stay during your trip. The hotel is next to Kad Suan Kaew shopping centre, offering a fitness centre and a big pool.
