The Royal Flora Ratchaphruek 2006 show will not be disturbed by the political happenings in Thailand at the moment and it will commence as planned on the first of November 2006 in Chiang Mai and run until the 31st of January, From now on, a special "Royal Flora Ratchaphruek-KTC Passport" is available that lets you experience the 5 top attractions in Chiang Mai and Chiang Rai. The passport is available until the 30 of September 2006. The following attractions can be visited with the passport: Gardens for the King The Gardens for the King are in honor to the King and his care for the lives of the his people. As His Majesty the King has a great knowledge and expertise about agriculture, this knowledge has resulted in many Royal projects that were put in place to improve the life quality of the people. The Gardens for the King are separated into two sections which are International Gardens and Corporate Gardens. 1. International Gardens The International Gardens comprise the architecture, culture and horticulture from 30 countries around the world which will ensure a spectacular display. The participating countries are Japan, Malaysia, Lao PDR, Indonesia, South Korea, Cambodia, India, Pakistan, Bhutan, Nepal, Vietnam, Qatar, Canada, Morocco, Gabon, Trinidad & Tobago, Sudan, Bulgaria, Bhutan, Spain, Tunisia, Yemen, China, Belgium, Kenya, Nigeria, Netherlands, Mauritania, Turkey, South Africa, China, Iran, Brunei and Burundi. 2. Corporate Gardens The Corporate Gardens are also very interesting. All 80 state enterprises with gardems will demonstrate a variety of garden concepts and theories for the Royal projects that have been started by His Majesty the King. 3. Thai Tropical Garden The majestic Thai Tropical Garden covers an area of incredible 100000 square meters. The Thai Tropical Garden lets you witness the vast diversity of tropical vegetation including horticulture, fruits, plants, flowers and herbs. 4. The Royal Pavilion The Royal Pavilion can be found right in the center of the event site and is constructed in a beautiful traditional Lanna Thai style. Inside the Royal Pavilion visitors can see many of the ways in which His Majesty the King has influenced the lives of people in a positive way. With total area of 6000 square meters the Royal Pavilion has been constructed with the highest skill and is an attraction in itself. His Majesty the King has always been on the forefront when it came to improving the quality of life for his people. He introduced ways to improve the water quality, sustaining forests and rehabilitating land. All this is documented in different ways in the Royal Pavilion. 5. Orchid Pavilion The Orchid Pavilion is showing you 50000 orchid plants from 10000 different special from al around the world. This is a beautiful showcase and a once-in-a-lifetime chance to see such an accumulation of orchids. Thailand is becoming a global orchid center and this show will boost its reputation as such even more. The Orchid Pavilion is on a 6400 square meters area and is a world class knowledge center for orchid cultivation and production. The Royal Flora Ratchaphruek 2006 International Horticultural Exposition will be the longest running orchid exhibition that Thailand has ever seen. Its purpose is to showcase that Thailand has the potential to be the world orchid capital. Competitions There will be weekly Orchid competitions during the 92 days of the competition. All entries will be judged under international accepted standards to ensure a proper ranking. Categories include for example potted or cut flowers. In one competition, contestants will design an orchid arrangement live. The exhibition and competitions are expected to draw 20,000 people on average each day on average with 100,000 visitors on the most busy ones. This will attract an overall amount of people of about 2 million.
