The Chiang Mai Royal Flora Expo in Thailand has been a full success since it started on the 1st of November 2006. The show will still be going on until the 31st of January. The Chiang Mai Royal Flora Expo stands in honor of the King of Thailand's who is 60 years on the throne now. The Ratchaphruek Flora Expo 2006 is one of the most spectacular flower and plant expositions that the world has ever seen with an astounding 220 different species and a total of 2.5 million plants on display.

Especially for the Ratchaphruek Flora Expo 2006, a compound has been built and the total area of the Ratchaphruek Flora Expo 2006 is 80 hectares that have been landscaped with the greatest skill and care to ensure a superb quality of the expo. Other countries are participating in the expo, overall more than 30 different countries are present to show their local tropical plants. The show is a first for Asia and it is way to bring to bring together all the countries that have good trade ties and relationships with Thailand.

Of course, then name "Ratchaphruek Flora Expo 2006" was chosen for a good reason. "Ratchaphruek" is a flower of yellow color which, in Thailand, is a symbol for royalty and Buddhism.

The highlights of the Ratchaphruek Flora Expo 2006 Chiang Mai include several structures and gardens:

One of the definite highlights is the International Garden that features all kinds of fowers, plants, art and architecture from all the countries that came to Chiang Mai to show off what their countries have to offer. This is a one-time chance to see such a variety of flowers from all around the world in one place, all presented in their whole beauty.

Another must-see is the Hor Kham Royal Pavillion at the Ratchaphruek Flora Expo 2006 Chiang Mai. It features Lanna period style design and was built by one of the best craftsmen in Thailand. It is in honor of the King of Thailand's efforts to perfectionize sustainable agriculture in the North of Thailand and to improve the people's life in the rural communities in Thailand. He has received international recognition for these efforts.

The Corporate Gardens are a further very interesting part of the Ratchaphruek Flora Expo 2006. This place is reserved for state enterprises and international companies that showcase the floral beauty that their respective countries are known for.

The Thai tropical garden is a 100,000 square meters area which concentrates on all species that can be found in Thailand. This area includes flowers, as well as fruits, plants, herbs and all other types of plants.

Most people coming to the Ratchaphruek Flora Expo 2006 Chiang Mai will want to check out the Expo Plaza.
