Brussels is a fun, civilized city in Western Europe with quite a few sights Posted by Mr.Ioan Voicu on 12 August 2006 Romanian Nationality |
Brussels is the cosmopolitan capital of Belgium, a city steeped in history and featuring some unique attractions. The area of Brussels where most tourists converge is the Grand Place, a landmark square featuring some outstanding historical buildings and several museums. Besides the City Museum, there are two other interesting ones there: the Beer Museum and the Chocolate Museum feature the historical background, modern manufacturing and tasty samples of two things that Belgium is a world-class producer of. Not to miss are also visits to the local Automobile Museum, as well as to the exhibitions dedicated to Herge, creator of the famous Tintin comics. There are also, of course, the iconic “Manneken Pis” and “Atomium” to see, but they’re honestly not really worth the trouble. Brussels also boasts a great dining scene, which is meant to be enjoyed alongside the unique flavors of the dozens of special beers that Belgium produces – try the peach beer, it’s well worth it!
