There are many westerners residing between Soi 1 and Soi 55 and Japanese more from soi 21 (Asoke Road) upwards. Traffic on Sukhumvit is congested at most times, even sometimes at midnight. However, the BTS Skytrain Bangkok is offered in the Sukhumvit area which is easily accessible. The route is from the National Stadium through the Silom line interchange at Siam Square up to On Nut on Soi (side-street) 71. The subway is Sukhumvit station interchanges with the Skytrain at Asok. Sukhumvit is also home to some of the famous entertainment venues catering to foreigners. Two a-go-go bar venues are located on the road, although the casual wanderer may not easily notice them, certainly not during the daytime. One is Nana Plaza entertainment venue at Sukhumvit soi 4, the other is Soi Cowboy, in between soi 21 and soi 23. The initial stretch of Sukhumvit road does not have major shopping centers but the area nearby. The major Bangkok shopping area of Siam Square (with Mahbunkhroong, Gaysorn Place and World Trade Center closeby) is easily reached by the skytrain. Food land at soi 5, is a best choice for food and daily necessities. Sukhumvit area is more than just the main street in Bangkok. It’s where you will find pubs, offices, restaurants, hotels and amazing people from every corner of the world. Such a fascinating cosmopolitan area in Bangkok!
