Posted by Miss.Kanistha Rattanapisit on 26 August 2006
Thai Nationality

Silom, it is the name of the road in Bangkok, Thailand. Silom Road, it is the business district in Bangkok with a high density of banks as well as the finest hotels. It is the busiest business district. There are both of business Thais people and foreigners as well as the road attracts foreign tourists as there are full of nice hotels available in the district and nice restaurants or bars are here.

A day time, you would see it is crowded and traffic by business Thai and foreign people with nice clothes walking around on the street or in some modes of transportation in a hurry time. Mostly, it is in the beginning and the end of the day. A night time, you would find tourists appeared in some of the area and as well business people can be found in the area for nightlife. Silom Road has the oldest nightlife district for foreign tourists mostly.

The place is called Patpong. It is a small entertainment place with beers, music, etc in the small alley of Silom Road. Silom soi 4 is the biggest place for gay’s nightlife. Bars in this place have gay staff or bartenders. Silom Road is better surfing at night.

Near to Silom Road is Lumphini Park. It is a nice garden of about one square km. with an artificial lake. It is large enough for exercise, jogging, and rowboats. It is supposed to do in the early morning or late evening. The climate is too hot for walking around during the day. Besides, there is in the place called Suanlum Night Bazaar Market displays handicraft, clothes, souvenirs and other general stuff to buy as well bars and restaurants are provided. It is kind of famous place over around Silom Road too.

Silom Road is not a main shopping area and tourists on package tours. For shopping, the Siam Square on Sukhumvit Road area has many advantages over the Silom Road area. Sukhumvit Road is expending area for tourists on packages more.

Silom Road is a very easy for transportation. There are both BTS skytrain and MRT subway linked in the area of the road. As well, public buses are available both buses with and without air-conditional. As Silom Road is traffic or crowded, motor bike is used often by people as it is quick. However, Silom Road is one of the parts of town with particularly bad air pollution.
