And you will come again, Jatujak Market, Bangkok, Thailand .. Posted by Ms.Ruethairath Aimsamang on 25 July 2006 Thai Nationality |
“Hey dude, Let’s go shopping at JJ Market (Chatuchak, Jatuchak, Jatujak)” A friend of mine asked me to go shopping with her. Without thinking, I quickly said yes since I happen to get bored on the weekends. It had been a long while since I last went shopping at Jatujak Market, the biggest weekend market in Bangkok. It is also known as the biggest wholesale market in Bangkok or even in Thailand. There’s no surprise if you see people walking around with a bunch of shopping bags in their hands as Jatujak market has everything you want. Everything! Jatujak market is divided into so many blocks due to different kind of products so that the shoppers can easily find what they want to buy. What makes people love JJ market the most is that they can bargain with the sellers for the best deal. Everyone seemed to be enjoyed with their shopping trip even if the weather on that day was incredibly hot. Luckily, there are restaurants provided, so my friend and I decided to take a break have lunch there. It was such a good time having meal and looking at the crowds at the same time. I sometimes couldn’t help getting so annoyed by a group of tribes who’re trying to sell their things, but it was fine as long as they didn’t join my lunch. Time flied, the market was about to close. The straight shoppers slowly walked out of the market. Some of them looked so happy with what they bought while some having a long face because they have just spent a lot of money. My friend and I didn’t want to go home yet, so we walked to a park called Suan Jatujak nearby (the market was actually named after this park as it’s located in the same area). There is a small lake with a big fountain in the middle of the park. You don’t feel anything but relax when you sit once you sit on a bench and look the splash of the fountain. Rental boat service is available for people who wish to roll the boat in the lake. The ticket is 30 baht per half an hour. We spent all most an hour chit chatting in the park and then we were off home. I realized that there would a slightly traffic jam on my way home, so I decided to take the MRT from Jatujak Park Station to Lat Phrao then took a bus which is quite convenient for me. I finally got home in 40 minutes later. The shopping trip with my friend was awesome even though I didn’t get so much stuff, but at least I did get some fresh air at the park also the happiness from the crowds which you can rarely find in a busy city like Bangkok.
