Bangkok Christmas Time has already started Posted by Mr.Umbert Fischer on 23 November 2006 German Nationality |
Bangkok Christmas is not far away anymore. Just one month to go and the festival starts again. Well. As we all know, it kind of is starting already as the Christmas light decoration is already glittering at most shopping centers and the streets of Bangkok are also starting to light up. Another sign of Christmas approaching are the beer gardens that start to pop up everywhere as this is also the cool season in Bangkok and people love to sit outside during this period. It is amazing how popular Christmas in Thailand is and especially Bangkok. Don't forget that Christians in Thailand make up not even 1% of the population which is manly Buddhist. There is of course a huge amount of tourists in Thailand at Christmas time. November until February is peak season here as the climate is the best and it is basically the nicest time of the year. Also, Thai people just love holidays. Sometimes it seems that in Thailand all the holidays from all cultures and countries around the world are accumulated. Another example would be that in Thailand, you have 3 New Year parties! Western, Thai and Chinese New Year are all on different dates but are all celebrated in Thailand. I don't know of any other country where this is the same. Thailand has very strict regulations on nightlife. Only some venues in special nightlife zones are allowed to stay open until 2 o clock in the morning. But at Christmas even the Bangkok police is easing up and normally, several places can stay open until 4 or even 5 in the morning. The only other days when this happens are on New Year celebrations. Watch out for Christmas celebrations and events all around Bangkok. Some places to party the night away are Q Bar and Bed Supperclub which will have special Christmas parties. Also, almost all restaurants in the city will offer special Christmas dinners in Bangkok. You can expect everything that you know from home, be it turkey, goose or any other traditional Christmas dish that you know of.
