Posted by Miss.Kesinee Sriyom on 19 September 2006
Thai Nationality

Thailand as it was known then acquired the name “Venice of the East” because of its charming river and waterway. Today, many of these waterways are still being the Chao Phaya River, known as the “River of Kings”. Chao Praya River flows from the Thai highlands to Bangkok and in fact youcan travel all the way from Chiang Mai to Bangkok by the river. The cities along the river are Nakhon Sawan, Chainat, Singburi, Ayutthaya, Uthai Thani, Ang Thong, Pathum Thani, Nonthaburi, Bangkok and Samut Prakan relatively.

Now, many locals and tourists love to travel along the Chao Praya River. Along the riverside you will see the fascinating sight of splendid palace, many temples, simple Thai house, and the charming Siamese way of life. At night, The Chao Praya River becomes the setting of romantic dinner cruises.

The trip along Chao Praya River is a very exciting and enjoyable thing to do for visitors either in the day time and night time with dinner served on the river cruise. You can enjoy the beautiful night on both side of Chao Praya River and get the experience the warmth of Thai Hospitality. The most famous area to start is from Royal Orchid Sheraton – Oriental – Shangri- La hotels. Along the river you will see many tourists attraction such as Wat Arun or Temple of Dawn, it is the star of visitor attraction and the symbol of Bangkok same as the Grand Palace. The symbol of this temble is “Prang”, it a blend of Khmer and Thai styles. Wat Po or Wat Phra Chetuphon, most western tourists get past the temple’s huge reclining Buddha. A very impressive, Fantastic view of the Royal Grand Palace can be seen on the bank of Chao Praya River. This is the main attraction that you will see along the Chao Praya river bank.

In Bangkok, the Chao Phraya is not only tourist’s attraction, it is a major transportation artery for a vast network of ferries and water taxis also.
