If you have been to
Bangkok you know there are no shortage of places to eat. Everything from street food to top end restaurants are available and all of them in large quantities. Thais pride themselves on their cooking and love of food, ask anyone who has spent any time in
Thailand and they will tell you that it borders on an obsession.
Thailand recently tagged itself as the Kitchen of the world, and whilst some European countries, particularly
France and
Italy, might want to argue this, it has to be said that there is huge range of good food available, but for me it is the Asian cuisine that is the true winner here. And there can be no other place for the foodie to experience the best of the East but to head for Bangkok. Below are a few of some of the excellent Asian restaurants in the city:
Dairy Queen Adjacent to Saphan bridge, Rattanathibet Road, 02 9218670 the restaurant is on the outskirts of Bangkok and serves a huge range of seafood, it is extremely popular with Thais. Situated on the Chao Phraya River it also offers cruises on the river (this restaurant is in no way connected to the Dairy Queen chain). Reservations are recommended.
Le Dalat Sukhumvit Soi 23, 026617967 This restaurant serves excellent
Vietnamese food with a French twist and has a very beautiful garden setting. Prices are very reasonable for the quality of food served.
Vientiane Kitchen Sukhumvit Soi 36, 026612311 This restaurants is always popular, serving a range of North Eastern Thai and
Laos food. They normally have a live band playing and all in it is a very pleasant night out at a very affordable price.
Rang Mahal Sukhumvit Soi 18 at the
Rembrandt Hotel, 022617100 This restaurant is on the top floor of the Rembrandt hotel and has outstanding views of Bangkok, with live music and typical dιcor it creates a great atmosphere to enjoy
Indian food. The menu is extensive and whilst not cheap the prices are reasonable.
China House Just outside the
Oriental Hotel on 48 Oriental Avenue, 026599000 Opulently decorated and full of ambiance it serves fantastic
Chinese food including a great Dim Sum menu for lunch.
There are many other restaurants to choose from but for the food that is the best of the East, I think you would be hard pressed to beat the range on offer in Bangkok.
