The Hmong Hilltribe Lodge Chiang Mai lies in the North West of the city and is set amidst the hills and rice paddies. The whole hotel was constructed by local craftsmen and each of the lodges uses local materials and techniques to create the most authentic experience you can have when coming to Chiang Mai. Combined with the world famous Tha hospitality you will feel at home right away. The natural beaut surrounding you is breathtaking.

The rooms of the Hmong Hilltribe Lodge are modeled after a typical traditional Northern Thai accommodation. The bedrooms are connected to a type of living or “communal gathering” area that also features a fireplace. Each lodge is equipped with a balcony area that is ideally suited to enjoy the tropical surroundings.

Facilities at the Hilltribe Lodge include a coffee shop that provides Thai and International food. There are also some really authentic local dishes available if you want to try real local food that is not adapted to the tastes of foreigners. When the sun sets, you can join the buffet style dinner that is provided in the Hmong Hilltribe Lodge with many local specialties to choose from.

Several activities are available that you can undertake starting from the Hmong Lodge. You can for example opt for a mountain bike trip that is available with guides for beginners or experienced bikers. Rafting trips are also available and you will also have experienced guides with you to deliver high security and fun. The Hmong Hilltribe Lodge also arranges treks through the surrounding area that are fun and interesting.

There are 10 lodges available that were all built by local craftsmen in a traditional style. The lodges all have bedrooms that are adjoining to a living or “communal gathering area” which is the way the Thais used to live and are still living in some places. This gathering area also has a central fireplace. Furthermore, the lodges have a balcony area that can be used for relaxing and enjoying the fantastic beautiful natural surroundings.

The Hmong Hilltribe Lodge is located around 20 km away from the Chiang Mai International Airport which makes it a convenient place to reach and also not too far away from the city. The lodges are located amidst the hills and rice paddies in the Northwest of Chiang Mai for a relaxing and tranquil experience.

Facilities in the Hmong Hilltribe Lodge are basic as to reflect traditional Thai living. A coffee shop provides Thai as well as Western style food. The Hmong Hilltribe Lodge Hotel, situated in Mae Rim district was a good choice for me. Around the hotel you had beautiful nature and the hotel was around 20 km away from the Chiang Mai City Center. I like dthis as it is not right in the city but still acceptable distance away as I had a rental car.
